NGAWI - The Ngawi Police Criminal Investigation Unit officer handed over the handling of the case of the discovery of a corpse wrapped in a carpet that was dumped and found in his jurisdiction to be investigated by the Ponorogo Police.
"Regarding the cause of death, we handed it over to the Ponorogo Police for further developments in the alleged murder," said Head of the Ngawi Police Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Agung Joko Haryono, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 11.
According to him, the Ngawi Police have revealed the identity of a corpse wrapped in a carpet that was dumped and found under the Ngawi toll road, kilometer 557 entering Widodaren Village, Widoden District, Ngawi Regency, East Java.
The victim was named Sumiran (57), a resident of Pragak Village, Parang District, Magetan Regency.
Disclosure of the identity was discovered after the victim's wife, Suciani (51), a resident of Pragak Village, Magetan, came to the morgue of the Soeroto Ngawi Hospital last week accompanied by officers from the Ponorogo Police Satreskrim.
This is because the victim is suspected of being related to the alleged murder case committed in a rented house in Ponorogo.
Suciani believes that the body of the man who was found rotting wrapped in carpets on the Ngawi toll road is Sumiran, her husband who has been missing since June 25, 2023.
"After seeing the physical characteristics of the corpse, his wife believes that the body is her lost husband," he said.
Meanwhile, a number of physical characteristics are 165 centimeters high and there are scars on the lower right leg.
