Congratulations, Kaltara Enters The Third Best Province To Reduce Stunting

JAKARTA - North Kalimantan Province (Kaltara) won the award as the third best province in achieving a reduction in stunting rate according to the 2022 Indonesian Nutrition Status Study (SSGI) data.

"Congratulations, for working hard, so that they won the third best national position in reducing stunting," said the Main Secretary of the Indonesian BKKBN Tavip Agus Rayanto in Tarakan, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, June 23.

The award charter from the government for North Kalimantan Province was handed over by the Main Secretary of the Indonesian BKKBN Tavip Agus Rayanto representing the Head of the Indonesian BKKBN Hasto Wardoyo to the Deputy Governor (Deputy Governor) of Kaltara Yansen TP at the Gala Dinner Semesta to Prevent Stunting - Month Bakti Pancasila, Gotong Royong to Prevent Stunting at the Tarakan Plaza Hotel Tarakan City, Friday night.

Tavip Agus Rayanto said according to the Ministry of Health's SSGI, stunting prevalence in Indonesia reached 21.6 percent in 2022. This figure is the lowest in a decade.

Kaltara Province was able to reduce stunting by 5.4 percent, from 27.5 percent in 2021 to 22.1 in 2022, and was included in the top three national provinces in Indonesia with a stunting reduction of more than 5 percent.

The province with the highest decline rate is South Sumatra, which is down 6.2 percent from 24.8 percent in 2021 to 18.6 percent in 2022. Second place, South Kalimantan, which is down 5.4 percent from 30 percent in 2021 to 24.6 in 2022.

Deputy Governor of Kaltara Yansen TP said the achievement was the result of the hard work of all parties, starting from the issuance of Presidential Regulation Number 72 of 2021 concerning the Acceleration of Stunting Reduction which was Holistic, Integrative, and Quality through Coordination, Synergy, and Synchronization Between Stakeholders.

"This is one form of the Government's efforts to reduce the stunting rate in Indonesia," he said.

The Deputy Governor said that the remaining less than two years to achieve the national stunting reduction target, which is 14 percent by 2024, is a big challenge.

However, he is optimistic that this target can be achieved even lower than 14 percent. This is because all components involved in stunting handling in Kaltara are ready.

"The reduction in stunting in Kaltara involves many parties, including local governments to villages/kelurahan, academics, media, the private sector, non-governmental organizations, and other development partners," he said.

In fact, dozens of businesses or investors who invest in Kaltara are specifically invited to the Galanner Semesta to Prevent Stunting to unite understanding and concrete steps in an effort to continue to reduce stunting in Kaltara, which amounts to 3,700 children.

"If the business world or investors in Kaltara work together with the Government and the Regional Government, I am optimistic that stunting can be completed and we will suppress it to zero cases before 2024," said the Deputy Governor of Kaltara.
