Prosecutor's Office Searches Morowali Bawaslu Confiscates Documents Related To Corruption In Grant Funds Of IDR 56 Billion

The Central Sulawesi Province High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) conducted a search of the office of the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Morowali Regency regarding the alleged corruption of grant funds amounting to Rp56 billion from the Central Sulawesi Bawaslu in 2020. "The search was carried out on Wednesday based on an investigation warrant Number: PRINT-01/P.2/Fd.1/02/2023," said Head of Central Sulawesi Attorney General's Office Mohammad Ronald in Palu, as reported by Antara, Thursday, June 22. The search lasted about four hours and investigators confiscated several documents related to the alleged corruption of grant funds from the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government through the Central Sulawesi Provincial Bawaslu in the election for governor and deputy governor in 2020. This step was taken by the prosecutor, to collect documents related to the case. The investigative team continues to investigate this case by examining a number of witnesses related to the alleged corruption. "The confiscated documents are not enough to be used as examination material, it needs to be explored again," he said. According to Ronald, currently the Attorney General's Office is still waiting for the results of the calculation of state losses that will be carried out by the Central Sulawesi Representative Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP). Based on the information from the head of the investigation team I Gde Sukayasa, the results of the calculation of state losses by BPKP will later become one of the important pieces of evidence in that case. "Even though there are two sufficient pieces of evidence as stipulated in the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the investigative team is still trying to obtain more strong evidence," he said.

The Central Sulawesi Prosecutor's Office investigator team previously examined 36 witnesses related to allegations of corruption in grant funds, besides that the prosecutor's team has also conducted searches in several work units, including the Central Sulawesi Bawaslu, Donggala Regency Bawaslu, Parigi Moutong and Banggai Islands Bawaslu offices.
