Deputy Minister Of Religion Asks Muslims To Respect Differences In Eid Al-Adha 2023

Deputy Minister of Religion Zainut Tauhid Sa'adi asked Muslims to respect each other, respect, and uphold tolerance for differences in the determination of Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijri/2023 AD between the government and Islamic community organizations in Indonesia.

"We must have an attitude of tolerance, tasamuh. We must respect the differences that occur, not insult each other and do things that are not liked," said Deputy Minister of Religion Zainut as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, June 19.

The government has determined that 1 Dzulhijah 1444 Hijri/2023 AD will fall on Tuesday (20/6). Thus, Eid al-Adha falls on Thursday (29/6), after being decided through an isbat trial.

With the stipulation of Eid al-Adha on Thursday (29/6), there is a difference with the decision of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership (PP) which stipulates 10 Dzulhijah 1444 H or Eid al-Adha on Wednesday (28/6).

The decision of PP Muhammadiyah is contained in the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership Decree Number 1 / MLM / I.0 / E / 2023 concerning the Determination of the Results of Hisab Ramadan, Syawal, and Dzulhijah 1444 H.

Although different, the Deputy Minister of Religion asked all Indonesian people to maintain security and mutual order, in order to lead to a moderate and tolerant society in maintaining the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

"On behalf of the government, I congratulate you on the celebration of Eid al-Adha 1444 H. May we always be in the protection and pleasure of Allah SWT," said Zainut.

In line with the Deputy Minister of Religion, Chairman of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives, Ashabul Kahfi, said that the different approaches in determining Eid al-Adha show diversity and interpretation of the science of Falak, methods of reckoning, and local traditions.

He said that different calculations and approaches should not be divided, in fact, they must unite and become familiar with Muslims.

"It is hoped that all parties will not be provoked by endless differences on social media," he said.
