Earthquake M 4.0 Singkawang Feels In Bengkayang And Landak, West Kalimantan BPBD Reminds Susulant Alert

The 4.0 magnitude earthquake (M) hit Singkawang in West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) to the neighboring areas of Bengkayang and Landak.

Head of the West Kalimantan Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Disaster Information Task Force, Daniel asked Bengkayang and Landak BPBD to be aware of the impact of aftershocks.

"The West Kalimantan BPBD has coordinated and we ask the Bengkayang Regency BPBD and Landak to be on standby. Coordination is also carried out intensely to regional leaders and in areas affected by earthquake vibrations," he said in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Thursday, June 15, as reported by Antara.

An M 4.0 earthquake occurred 5 kilometers southwest of Singkawang on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 17.24 WIB.

Based on the analysis of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake was located at coordinates 0.89 North Latitude and 108.94 East Longitude.

With an earthquake depth of 32 km, Landak Regency and Bengkayang are areas affected by the shock.

"From community reports, this earthquake was felt in Landak and Bengkayang with intensity II-III MMI. The vibrations were felt real in the house. It felt as if a truck had passed," he said.

Paying attention to the location of the epicenter and the depth of the hypocenter, BMKG reported that this earthquake was a shallow earthquake caused by local fault activity.

"Until now there have been no reports of damage caused by the earthquake," he said.

Deniel reminded BMKG's appeal for people in the Landak area, Bengkayang and its surroundings to remain calm and not be influenced by issues that cannot be justified.
