The Directorate of Special Crimes (Ditreskrimsus) of the Metro Jaya Police said 22 victims of the crime of trafficking in persons (TPPO) were lured into work as cleaning services in Saudi Arabia by suspects AG and F.

"The passports of the 22 victims or prospective migrant workers are lured to work as a cleaning service in Saudi Arabia," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Auliansyah Lubis as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, June 8.

Auliansyah explained that the proof obtained by the visas of the prospective workers was a visa for pilgrimage.

"The fact is from the visa evidence we found at the TKP or visas of prospective workers is a visa to make a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia with a validity period of 90 days and not a visa to work in Saudi Arabia," he said.

The police are still investigating this case, including other parties involved so they cannot provide more detailed information.

"That brother AG and the F do not work alone. So later there will be the passport maker, there will be activities for health checks, then someone will recruit them at their place of origin, because these victims come from NTB, and then later someone will receive them at their destination," he continued.

Previously, the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of the Metro Jaya Police arrested two suspects in a criminal case of trafficking in persons (TPPO) with the intention of being exploited.

"Two suspects, namely a man with the initials AG and a woman with the initials F," said Auliansyah.

The Sub-Directorate Team for 3 Environmental Resources (Sumdaling) received information and conducted an investigation in the Kebon Jeruk area, West Jakarta.

"On Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at 17.00 WIB, an investigation was carried out at a house on Jalan Haji Kotong Number 3 RT 11 RW 3, Kebon Jeruk Village, Kebon Jeruk District, West Jakarta and it was found that the house was used as a place to accommodate prospective Indonesian Migrant Workers," he explained.

Auliansyah explained that from the shelter there were 15 people who would be dispatched abroad.

"The house is used as a place to accommodate 15 prospective Indonesian migrant workers who will be dispatched to work in Saudi Arabia," he explained.

Then after that, the Ditreskrimsus developed and re-discovered seven victims.

"The address is at Jalan Tengah No. 38 RT 013 RW 007, Cijantung Village, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, so that the total number of victims is 22 people," he said.
