JAKARTA - Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) urges the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to eradicate the practice of subordinates being required to deposit to superiors within the National Police institution.
This pressure arose following the vent of a member of Brimob who gave 'peti' to his superiors. This conversation went viral.
A police officer who claimed to be named Bripka Andry Wirawan and served in Battalion B Pioneer of the Riau Police Mobile Brigade Unit in Manggala Body Rokan Hilir (Rohil) also admitted that he had been transferred for no apparent reason.
"IPW urges the National Police Chief to eradicate it all within the Police institution, the practice of subordinates is required to deposit it to superiors," said IPW Chairman Sugeng Teguh Santoso in his statement in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, June 6.
Sugeng said that the practice of depositing to superiors can be qualified as a habit of chronic gratification and can have an impact on members of the National Police and will carry out illegal levies (extortion) practices on the community, employers, or even become backing certain parties who carry out illegal practices.
According to Sugeng, the Bribka Andry case, a member of the Riau Police Mobile Brigade who served in Rokan Hilir who was always asked for deposits by his superior Danyon Kompol PS as a latent problem in closed practices such as the phenomenon of Mount ice gratification in the National Police institution.
"You can imagine that a Bripka Andry whose salary is only around Rp. 4 million with allowances having to deposit tens of millions and even hundreds of millions was ordered to deposit it to his superiors," said Sugeng.
Sugeng continued, the amount of deposits to superiors who exceed official income will definitely demand Bripka Andry, as well as other members (a total of six people) will seek funds even from illegal sources, for example, to backing illegal businesses.
"In addition, there is a phenomenon of member “frelance ” or off duty after an apple which is a practice of disciplinary violation and also a code of ethics due to pressure that must be deposited on superiors," said Sugeng.
Sugeng added, IPW supports the Riau Police's move to disable Kompol PS and urges an examination of the code of ethics and criminal process of extortion in the position of the person concerned.
"IPW encourages members of the National Police who are urged by their superiors to deposit to reject the boss's order and dare to report to the superior of this superior," said Sugeng.
The Riau Police Propam is currently investigating the story of members of the Riau Police Mobile Brigade Brimob Bripka Andry on social media because they do not accept the transfer of demotion, including the money deposit to their superiors.
