Having Stayed A Day At The House Of NTT Residents, US Caucasians Were Deported For Not Having Travel Documents

MAUMERE - The Immigration Office Class II TPI Maumere has detained a foreign national (WNA) from the United States who does not have complete travel documents in Sikka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. "After further examination, violations were found, and sanctions were imposed by immigration administrative action in the form of deportation back to their home country," said Head of the Immigration Office Class II TPI Maumere, Eko Julianto Rachmad when contacted in Kupang, Antara, Monday, June 5. Eko explained that the detention of the female foreigner had been carried out since May 31, 2023 while waiting for the deportation process. Previously, the security for foreigners was carried out because the Waigete Police Chief, who is a member of the Foreigner Monitoring Team (Timpora) at the sub-district level, provided information regarding the existence of foreigners at the Watumita inn who did not have a passport. From this information, the Immigration Office Officer Class II TPI Maumere together with members of the Waigete Police checked directly at the Watumita inn in Wair Village, Waigete District, Sikka Regency, but did not find the foreigner. Officers also found the foreigner at the resident's house which is located in Wodong Hamlet, RT/RW 015/005 Wair Village, explained. According to the owner of the house, said Eko, the foreigner had been staying for one night at his house. To the officers, the foreigner with the initials RJK admitted that he lost his passport and only had a passport photo on his cellphone. He also admitted that he ran out of living expenses. "After checking in the system, it is known that the residence permit for the visit in question has expired on May 25, 2023," said Eko explaining. The foreigner is still being held for further deportation procedures to return to his country of origin. For this incident, Eko expressed his appreciation for the collaboration of Timpora which has carried out surveillance and information regarding the presence of foreigners in the environment.

"The information about the existence of foreigners is due to the synergy between members of the District-level Foreigner Supervision Team in Sikka Regency," he said.
