Zulhas Meets Megawati At PDIP Headquarters This Afternoon, Deputy PAN Says Will Discuss The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - PAN General Chair (Ketum) Zulkifli Hasan alias Zulhas plans to visit the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP Office in Jakarta, Friday, June 2 afternoon.

Zulhas and the PAN elite will stay in touch with the PDIP chairman Megawati Soekarnoputri.

"Ketum PAN, Bang Zulkifli Hasan, and daily administrators of the PAN DPP will conduct a gathering with the Chairperson of the PDI-P DPP, Mrs. Megawati. The event was held today, Friday afternoon, at 14.00 (WIB)," said Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of PAN Viva Yoga Mauladi in a written statement, Friday, June 2.

In addition to gathering nationally, Viva said the agenda for the meeting would also discuss the future of the nation, including the 2024 presidential election.

He also did not deny that based on the decision of the 2020 PAN National Working Meeting (Rakernas), Ganjar Pranowo's presidential candidate would be included in the nomination radar in the 2024 presidential election.

"Mas Ganjar Pranowo is one of the names on the nomination radar in the 2024 presidential election," he added.

However, he said the decision regarding the determination of strategic steps in determining the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair would be submitted to Zulhas as the general chairman of PAN, as mandated by the PAN National Working Meeting.

"For that, we are waiting for the decision and the determination of the name of Bang Zulkifli Hasan for the 2024 presidential election," he added.

Previously, Thursday, June 1, Ganjar Pranowo said that he would immediately announce a new supporting political party (parpol) that would carry him for the 2024 presidential election.

"Regarding which party carries, we are waiting for the news in the next two days," said Ganjar at a press conference at the 2024 Presidential Ganjar Volunteer House, Central Jakarta, Thursday.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, May 31, PAN Deputy Yandri Susanto said the direction of his party's support was to carry Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto or Ganjar Pranowo as candidates for president and SOE Minister Erick Thohir as candidates for vice president (cawapres).

"I reiterate, I have often said that PAN is between Ganjar and Prabowo, and the vice presidential candidate is Erick Thohir," said Yandri.

Yandri also said that the decision regarding the direction of support to be given by PAN in the 2024 presidential election will be announced in the near future.

To note, registration for presidential and vice-presidential candidates is scheduled for October 19 to November 25, 2023.

Based on Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament, so that the pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It is also possible that the candidate pairs can be promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
