TNI And Police Guard 32TOMers On Foot Towards Borobudur Temple, Enthusiastic Residents Welcoming

KENDAL - 32 monks from Thailand who held a thudong or walking ritual, Saturday, May 27 at around 09.00 WIB entered the Kendal area. Members of the TNI and Polri as well as a number of mass organizations picked up a group that would walk to Borobudur Temple.

Kendal Deputy Chief of Police, Kompol Edy Sutrisno, also walked away with the monk who wanted to celebrate the Vesak commemoration at Borobudur Temple. Residents also appear to be lined up on the side of the road welcoming monks by giving drinks and produce. This enthusiastic resident's speech became an encouragement for the monk who carried out this tudhong action.

"Just an examination of this monk's actions, they are strong walking tens of thousands of kilometers," said Sujarwo, a resident of Weleri.

Escorted by patrol cars from the Kendal Police and ambulances, the monks rested for a moment in the hall of Weleri sub-district. In Weleri sub-district the monks prayed with a number of Buddhists who were waiting for their arrival in the hall of Weleri sub-district.

After resting for a while in the hall of Weleri sub-district, 32 monks resumed their journey to Kendal City and would stop at the Kendal PCNU office and spend the night at the Santo Antonius Padua Kendal Church. The next day the group will continue walking again to Semarang.
