Invite Experts To Participate In Open Selection Of BAKTI President Director, Mahfud MD Guarantees Who Passed Not Related To 4G BTS Corruption Cases

JAKARTA - Acting Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Mahfud MD invites professionals and telecommunications experts to participate in the selection to fill the position of President Director (Director) of the Telecommunication and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI).

Mahfud said the experts or professionals do not need to be afraid that they will be related to the alleged corruption case in the procurement of the 4G Base Transceiver Station (BTS) for the 3T area that dragged the former Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G Plate.

"There is no need to be afraid because it will not be linked and legally involved with the case that is currently ongoing. Because the law is the responsibility of the perpetrator directly, not his successors being dragged. Instead, it is hoped that his successors will be able to help facilitate the implementation of this BAKTI's duties, functions and authorities," Mahfud said at the Kemenkominfo Building. According to Mahfud, the position of President Director of BAKTI is very important because its position is important to regulate almost 60 percent of the budget provided by the Ministry of Communication and Information in the development of telecommunications infrastructure in Indonesia.

Therefore, the position of Director of BAKTI needs to be filled by professionals who can manage this Public Service Agency wisely.

As for the first open selection for the President Director of BAKTI, the Ministry of Communication and Information received unsatisfactory results because at the assessment selection stage as many as 12 participants were all declared unsuccessful.

By the assessment team from the University of Indonesia appointed by the Ministry of Communication and Information, it was found that the 12 participants did not meet the criteria for assessing behavior profiles, managerial competence, and socio-cultural competence.

"Therefore, we are now reopening registration to find another President Director who can meet the requirements for this BAKTI institution," said Mahfud.

Previously, the position of President Director of BAKTI was filled by the figure of Anang Achmad Latief who in January 2023 was declared a suspect in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of 4G BTS in the 3T area.

The case also named six other suspects, namely MA from PT Huawei Technology Investment, IH as Commissioner of PT. Solitechmedia Synergy, GMS as Director of Urama PT Mora Telematika Indonesia, YS as Human Development UI in 2022, JGP as former Minister of Communication and Information, and WP as IH's right-hand man.
