Seventh Day Not Found, Fisherman Search In Alor NTT Stopped

The joint SAR team stopped the search operation for Arba Ali (40), a resident of Bandar Village, Pantar District, who was missing while fishing in Pandai waters, Pantar District, Alor Regency, NTT because until the seventh day the search for victims had not been found.

"The search operation for Arba Ali, a fisherman who went missing in Pandai waters, Pantar District, has been stopped. The search has been going on for seven days but the results are still nil," said Head of the Maumere Search and Rescue Office, Mexianus Bekabel, quoted by ANTARA, May 26.

Arba Ali was reported missing while fishing in Pandai waters, Pantar District, on Thursday 15 May, or about 20.9 Nautical Mile from the port of Kalabahi, Alor Regency.

The families of the victims who carried out the search only found boats and fishing gear belonging to the victims around the waters of Buaya Island.

"The boat was found empty without any victim Arba Ali," said Mexianus Bekabel.

Bekabel said the search operation had been officially stopped on Thursday, May 25, because various efforts were made by Basarnas to search by expanding the search area, but the victim was not found.

"The operation closure by the joint SAR team, first carried out an evaluation with the victim's family that for seven days a search had been carried out, but there were no signs of finding the victim," said Bekabel.

He appreciated the search carried out by the joint SAR team from the Alor SAR Post Rescue team, Polair Alor, Alor Police, Alor Kodim, Alor BPBD as well as the community and families of the victims who jointly carried out searches for victims from the start.

"This kind of cooperation and coordination must be maintained for the speed of SAR response to the people of Alor Regency," said Bekabel.

According to him, according to the law on search and rescue, the search and rescue operation will be carried out within a maximum period of 7 days, but if the victim is found in the future, the SAR operation will be reopened.
