JAKARTA - The construction of the Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) Plant and Lanfdil mining at the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Disposal Site (TPST), Bekasi, has been completed. However, it has not yet been inaugurated.
Deputy Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency, Sarjoko, admitted that his party was stalling for the inauguration target of the DKI Provincial Government's waste processing facility, which was built in the era of former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.
The DKI Provincial Government previously targeted the processing of waste into fuel equivalent to coal to be fully operational in February. Now, the target has been pushed back to mid-2023.
"This year (the RDF Plant Bantargebang was inaugurated), yesterday I received information that July might expect. We'll wait," Sarjoko told reporters, Wednesday, May 24.
Currently, the progress of the work before the inauguration is in commissioning or testing the comprehensive waste processing plant. The commissioning stage has been carried out since early January.
Why is the commissioning stage in the process for a long time on this RDF Plant? Asep explained that currently the quality of waste processing produced has not met the standards for the company to buy as its offtaker partner.
Therefore, the DKI Provincial Government continues to formulate processing to improve its quality. Sarjoko claims that currently the quality of waste processing results is increasingly in accordance with demand.
"Of course there are adjustments to optimization according to the standards requested by the optaker. In principle, testing in the field is optimal. Just waiting for the schedule," said Sarjoko.

This waste processing facility into coal equivalent fuel owned by the DKI Provincial Government has begun construction work through ground breaking by former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan in February 2022.
RDF Plant in Bantargebang can process 2,000 tons of waste in one day, namely 1,000 tons that have accumulated in Bantargebang, and 1,000 tons of new waste coming from Jakarta. 2,000 tons of processed waste will be able to produce around 700-750 tons of fuel.
The DKI Provincial Government is collaborating with two companies as offtakers or parties who buy the results of the Bantargebebeng RDF Plant, namely PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa and PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia (SBI).
