BEKASI - The Regional House of Representatives of Bekasi Regency, West Java urged the company to fire the reported case of alleged sexual harassment of female employees with the mode of extending work contracts.

"Urges the man with the initials B to be immediately fired from the company and supports the legal process of criminal cases of sexual violence and unpleasant acts against the employee of the AD as the victim," said Bekasi Regency DPRD Commission IV member Nyumarno after chairing a hearing reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 10.

He said the Bekasi Regency DPRD was waiting for the progress of the legal process in the case but also asked the company to take firm steps against individuals suspected of having violated the law.

"There is a normative law, moral sanctions that the company should be able to apply. The fact is that it has gone viral everywhere. The company can give sanctions, just fire people like that," he said.

He explained the perpetrator's actions by making the invitation to spend the night together at the hotel as a condition for extending the work contract is not justified, especially since this behavior has the potential to cause a domino effect on the investment climate in Bekasi Regency.

"Don't let the actions of individuals like B make the image of companies in Bekasi Regency or companies in Indonesia even the image of investors not good," he said.

Previously, B, the boss of a company in Bekasi Regency, West Java who invited his employees to stay at the hotel as a condition for extending the work contract, was questioned by the police. He was questioned for five hours by the Bekasi Metro Police.

Head of the Public Relations Section of the Bekasi Metro Police, AKP Hotma Sitompul, said that the examination of B who is the reported status was carried out on Tuesday, April 9, 2023, along with an examination of the AD reporter and two witnesses.

"Today there was no (witness examination), yesterday the complainant, two witnesses and the reported party. The reported party was examined from 12.00 to 17.00 WIB," said Hotma.

Meanwhile, with the legal area of AD, Untung Nassari hopes that the legal issues that befell his client can be dealt with until the perpetrators get rewarded for their actions.

"We hope that the police can handle this problem, can develop the existing reports so that they are fulfilled by Articles 5 and 6 and also the unpleasant acts so that the perpetrators can be legally charged," he said.
