Cak Imin Will Meet Hamzah Haz Today To Discuss The 2024 General Election

JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Awakening Party Muhaimin Iskandar plans to visit the 9th Vice President as well as Nahdlatul Ulama figure Hamzah Haz on Thursday (11/5) on Jalan Tegalan Number 27, East Jakarta. The meeting discussed the dynamics of the 2024 General Election.

Chairman of the DPP National Awakening Party (PKB) for Communication and Information Ahmad Iman Sukri said Cak Imin, MuhaiminIskandar's nickname, wanted to seek political advice from Hamzah Haz, who had held the vice president position.

"Cak Imin asked for political advice from former Vice President Mr. Hamzah Haz because Mr. Hamzah Haz was a phenomenal former chairman of PPP who was once vice president, it was the politician in Islamic reform," said Ahmad as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 10.

According to him, Cak Imin felt the need to get input as well as gain experience from Hamzah Haz. They will also discuss the current political developments, especially ahead of the 2024 General Election.

"Political advice so that the point is that the legislative and presidential elections will run peacefully and democratically," he said.

This is considering several survey institutions that Cak Imin is the most potential vice presidential candidate (cawapres).

One of them is the result of a recent survey by the PolMark Research Center (PRC)-PolMark Indonesia which places Cak Imin in line in fifth place as a national presidential candidate with 4.8 percent below Ridwan Kamil who gets 5.2 percent.

"Of course it is also related to the vice presidential candidate. Cak Imin was the last PolMark survey in East Java as the highest vice presidential candidate," he explained.

For the East Java region, Cak Imin occupies the top position with 11.5 percent, ahead of Khofifah Indar Parawansa with 5.8 percent, Ridwan Kamil with 1.9 percent, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono with 1.8 percent, Puan Maharani with 1.5 percent, and a number of other names under 1 percent.

"So, it is Cak Imin's calculation, first, because of the general chairman of the political party. Second, the NU representation," added Ahmad.

Previously, Cak Imin had also met senior Golkar Party politician Jusuf Kalla on Saturday (6/5) night in order to hold a gathering in Lebaran 2023. The meeting was held at JK's residence on Jalan Brawijaya Raya Number 6, South Jakarta.
