BANDA ACEH - Pidie Police have arrested six inmates (prisoners) at the Class II B Prison in Pidie Regency, Aceh, who tested positive for drugs, after a urine examination was carried out on local inmates.

"Previously, the prison's internal parties had searched and found narcotics of the type of methamphetamine and helped secure three inmates," said Head of the Pidie Police Narcotics Unit AKP Rahmat in Sigli as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 10.

Rahmat said the urine test was carried out after an initial search and it was found that the illicit goods were in the prison's residence. After that, his party re-examined and again found the evidence of drugs.

Then, said Rahmat, the Head of the Class II B Prison in Bakti City, Tribowo, asked the Pidie Police to conduct a re-examination to realize the synergy of prisons in fighting drugs.

"During the re-examination, we found dozens of evidences of methamphetamine in room 12, which were inhabited by 11 inmates," he said.

During the raid, said Rahmat, initially the team arrested three inmates, then after interrogation of all the occupants of the room, several other people who were positive for drugs were found.

"After conducting a urine test, all the occupants of the room increased to six people who were positive for methamphetamine," said Rahmat.

Now, the inmates who have tested positive for drug use have been secured to the Pidie Police Headquarters for further investigation.
