The Ministry Of Health Ensures That The Aspirations Of The Professional Organization Are Accommodated In The Health Bill

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Mohammad Syahril, said that all aspirations from health professional organizations in Indonesia have been accommodated by the government in the formulation of the Draft Health Law (RUU).

"Actually, input from the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) and other professions has been accommodated through the Problem Inventory List (DIM) which has been submitted to the DPR," Mohammad Syahril said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 8.

Syahril said this was in response to the peaceful demonstration against the Health Bill which was held by five health professional organizations in Jakarta and a number of areas today.

He said the Health Bill was the initiative right of the DPR which had been submitted to the president.

"The president asked the Minister of Health to be studied and then asked for input on criticism of suggestions from all stakeholders, all professions, communities, and emerging so-called DIM," he said.

According to him, public hearings on March 13-31, 2023 involved 115 public participation activities, 1,200 invited policy makers, and 72,000 participants. As a result, 3,020 DIM was netted which was obtained from a total of 478 articles in the body trunk of the Health Bill.

The top 25 topics include hospital services, health workers, abortion, social security systems, and drug and pharmaceutical independence.

On April 5, 2023, the Ministry of Health sent the DIM of the government's version of the Health Bill to Commission IX of the DPR.

"Currently, the inventory list of the problems has been submitted to the DPR for discussion," he said.

During the discussion process by the DPR Working Committee, said Syahril, corrections were made to improving policies.

"In making laws or formulating new policies, of course there are things that can be related to other professions, others, and other institutions that intersect in this regard," he said.

Everything that IDI and several professions expect, said Syahril, is a form of aspiration that is protected by law.

"Of course with this demonstration does not mean we have to clash with each other, but to convey what is being done and what is being done together, we will receive input," he said.

A number of health professional organizations include the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI), the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI), the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI), the Indonesian Dental Association (PDGI), and the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI) held a peaceful demonstration against the Health Bill in Jakarta today.

The peaceful action was intended to stop the government's discussion of the Omnibuslaw Health Bill.

A number of demands voiced include guaranteeing legal protection for health workers, including doctors who are considered not yet accommodated in the Health Bill.

A number of crucial points in the Health Bill in question include the abolition of professional organizations from health laws, the function of professional organizations being taken over by the government, the threat of imprisonment of 3 to 5 years in the event of a doctor's negligence in the patient, to the threat of material compensation if there is negligence.
