AGAM - The traffic flow passed through Nagari Malalak, Agam Regency, West Sumatra was temporarily stopped following a landslide that brought soil material to a road belonging to the local province, Sunday, May 7.
"The provincial road access is completely cut off and cannot be passed at this time, both two- and four-wheeled vehicles, information from local residents that the landslide occurred on Sunday morning," said the Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Agam Regency, Bambang Warsito, in Lubungbasung, Antara, Sunday, May 7.
Officers are already at the location to evacuate the clearing of landslide material.
Until now, there have been no casualties or residential areas that have been affected by the incident.
"The landslide actually occurred in the Ambacang area, East Nagari Malalak, Malalak District, which covered road access with a height of approximately one meter and a length of 15 meters," said Bambang.
He said the conditions at the landslide location were still raining with strong winds.
His party appealed to residents who want to pass this road to stop their vehicles for a while until the road conditions are cleaned.
"Stay vigilant, first avoid traveling to this area or turning to another route to Padang Panjang or Pariaman," he said.
The road in the Malak area is also an alternative route for motorists from Padang City to Bukittinggi and vice versa.
"This route is even the main access to the implementation of the one-way system that was previously implemented by the West Sumatra Police during the 2023 Eid holiday," said Bambang Warsito.
