Basarnas Holds Special SAR Alert For ASEAN Summit In Labuan Bajo

KUPANG - The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) conducted a Special SAR Operation for the 42nd ASEAN Summit (KTT) which took place in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

"In supporting the implementation of the ASEAN Summit, Basarnas through BasarnasMaumere carried out a Special SAR operation during the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo," said Head of BasarnasMaumere Mexianus Bekabel as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, May 4.

His party has sent a rescue team for one operating ship, namely KN SAR Puntadewa 250 and Rescue Boat 212 Maumere which departed from Wuring Maumere Port, Sikka Regency, to Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, Thursday (5/5), to participate in the Special SAR Alert for the ASEAN Summit which will take place from 9-11 May 2023 in Labuan Bajo.

"Head of Basarnas (Marsekal Madya TNI Henri Alfiandi) will together with the SAR team during the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, for that we will continue to prioritize the spirit of quick response and maintain discipline when carrying out the ASEAN Summit SAR alert," said Mexianus Bekabel.

Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary of Sikka Regency Adrianus Firminus Parera who represented Sikka Regent Fransiskus Roberto Diogo appreciated the dedication of the Maumere SAR team to carry out search and rescue missions in Sikka Regency and other areas on Flores Island, Lembata, and Alor.

"We express our highest gratitude for the dedication of the Maumere Basarnas SAR team which has carried out search and rescue missions. Upholding the good name and noble duty of Basarnas, continue to be enthusiastic in carrying out the ASEAN Summit SAR alert," he said.
