KPK Receives 373 Gratification Reports During Eid 2023

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) received 373 reports related to goods or objects of gratification from the public during Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijri or Lebaran 2023, with an estimated value of IDR 240,712,804.

"The report consists of 345 receipt reports and 28 reports of gratification rejection," said KPK spokesman Ipi Maryati in Jakarta, Thursday, May 4, quoted by Antara.

Ipi explained that the reported object of gratification consisted of three souvenirs or plaques with an estimated value of Rp. 3,700,000 and 292 objects in the form of bouquets of flowers, food, and drinks with an estimated value of Rp. 164,390,920.

Furthermore, objects in the form of money, vouchers, precious metals with an estimated value of IDR 6,400,001 and 115 objects in other forms with an estimated value of IDR 66,221,883.

"Some of the items reported have been received by the KPK, and others are in the process of being sent by the reporting parties. For receiving gratuities in the form of food, they have been distributed directly as social assistance or social assistance to parties in need," he said.

Ipi said the data above is the latest data as of May 3, 2023 and the KPK will immediately announce if there are additional reports of both receipt and rejection of gratuities.

"KPK expresses its appreciation to those who have reported the acceptance and rejection of the gratuity. This is the first step to prevent corruption," said Ipi.

Previously, the KPK conveyed its appeal through Circular No. 6 of 2023 concerning Prevention of Corruption and Control of Gratification related to Hari Raya.

The KPK continues to invite the public to avoid gratification practices, both as givers and recipients, especially gratuities related to positions and contrary to their duties. Because these actions can cause conflicts of interest, are against regulations and codes of ethics, and have the risk of criminal sanctions.

If due to certain conditions, a civil servant or state administrator cannot refuse gratuities, it is mandatory to report to the KPK no later than 30 working days from the date of gratuity received.
