19 Koli Illegal Cosmetics In Kaltara Destroyed

TARAKAN - A total of 19 cosmetic koli without distribution or illegal permits were destroyed. There are three suspects in this case.

The destruction was carried out at the Tarakan Class II Agricultural Quarantine Center office by the Tarakan Police Chief AKBP Ronaldo Maradona TPP Siregar with BPOM Tarakan officials and other relevant agencies.

The cosmetics without distribution permits from various brands were destroyed by burning them on a machine to destroy evidence belonging to the Tarakan Agricultural Quarantine Center.

"This destruction was witnessed directly by three suspects. Two of them are employees of the Tarakan Branch Post Office and Sei Mosquito Nunukan. They are TB (32) and CH (52). While one other suspect is a courier with the initials JA (38)," said Ronaldo, Wednesday, May 3.

The suspects were charged with Article 197 in conjunction with Article 106 paragraph (1) and paragraph (2) of Law Number 36 of 2009 concerning Health as amended in Article 60 number 10 of Perpu Number 2 of 2022 concerning Job Creation or Article 196 in conjunction with Article 98 paragraph (2) and (3) of Law Number 36 of 2009 concerning Health.

"Hopefully the steps taken so far will have a deterrent effect, so that no one will try to trap illegal cosmetics like this, if later we find more information, we will act again," said the Police Chief.

He explained that the legal action carried out by his staff together with related agencies was a policy to support government programs.

"If the public knows there is a criminal act, please report it to us," said Ronaldo.

Some of the evidence has been collected for the purposes of investigation, prosecution and pretrial hearings.

The destruction was carried out for investigation purposes based on an expert examination from the Food and Drug Supervision Center (BPOM) which stated that the cosmetics did not have a distribution permit and the content was not yet known.

"To reduce the volume of evidence that is not suitable for distribution and avoid circulating the cosmetics again, the cosmetic evidence that was successfully confiscated was destroyed. Some were set aside for evidence in court," he concluded.
