Three Traditional NTT Dances Prepared At The ASEAN Summit

Deputy Governor of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Josef Nae Soi said the local government is preparing three traditional dances to be performed to welcome guests attending the 2023 ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, Flores Island.

"There are three traditional dances that we are preparing to welcome guests, namely a dance that arrives in meka, angkuk alu, and a caci," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 2.

He conveyed this related to the role of local governments in NTT in supporting the implementation of the ASEAN 2023 Summit in Labuan Bajo on May 9-11.

Nae Soi explained that the traditional dance prepared in essence meant the joy of residents in the area to welcome guests.

"Even like in the sudden dance, meka, the philosophical meaning is that not only NTT people receive guests, but the entire universe in NTT accepts guests," he said.

He explained that the three traditional dances will be performed by dancers welcoming guests or delegates from 11 countries who will take part in the ASEAN Summit.

In addition to dances, he said, heads of state will be given clothes from ikat weaving prepared by the Regional National Crafts Council (Dekranasda) of NTT.

"We will also give souvenirs or souvenirs to guests," he said.

Furthermore, Nae Soi said the implementation of the ASEAN 2023 Summit in Labuan Bajo was a matter of pride for local governments and the people in NTT.

"We are grateful to Mr. President Joko Widodo for setting Labuan Bajo as the location of the ASEAN Summit and we are ready to be the main supporters for the success of this activity," he said.
