JAKARTA - Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Bintang Puspayoga asked the police to reveal the case of Pastor Flo's death which was indicated to have domestic violence, so that the cause of death could be revealed immediately and did not cause speculation.

"We believe that the Maluku Regional Police and Bareskrim Polri will move quickly to uncover this case, so that the cause of death of the deceased can be revealed more clearly. Because the disclosure of the death of Pastor Flo is important apart from stopping public speculation, it is also to obtain justice for the deceased," said Bintang Puspayoga, quoted from Antara, Sunday, April 30.

Bintang Puspayoga also expressed his condolences for the death of the priest whose full name is Florensye Selvin Gaspersz.

"I and the ranks of the Ministry of PPPA, from the bottom of our hearts, express my deepest condolences to the family left by the late Pastor Flo. Let us pay tribute to our beloved sister, the late Pastor Flo who had preceded us all before God. let us remember all the kindness and services of the deceased during his lifetime," he said.

His party is also concerned about several testimonies and information indicating that the deceased was also a victim of domestic violence (KDRT).

"Trage in Pastor Flo is the turning point to renew our promise before God, that as creatures sent by Him to work in this world, we will seriously work hard to end violence against women and children anywhere and by anyone," he said.

Bintang Puspayoga conveyed that what happened to Pastor Flo should be a common concern because on the one hand the deceased was a pastor, church servant, women leader of the congregation, and on the other hand the deceased was the mother of a one year old child.

He said efforts to eliminate violence had been pursued by the state through Law Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence and Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence.

The implementation of the law, said Bintang, needs to be continuously pursued by various parties to build a culture free from violence.
