Former KPK Leader Pessimistic Alleged Leaking Of Investigation Documents Processed, Dewas: We Are Professional

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated that it would work professionally to investigate alleged ethical violations. They will not be selective in handling incoming reports.

This assurance was conveyed by KPK Supervisory Board member Syamsuddin Haris in response to the pessimistic attitude of former KPK leader Saut Situmoran when reporting KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri on Monday, April 10 yesterday. This report relates to the alleged leak of documents investigating corruption cases at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

"Dewas is working professionally, yes. So we are following up on all complaints regarding alleged ethical violations," Syamsuddin told reporters at the ACLC KPK Building, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Tuesday, April 11.

Even so, the KPK Council is now focusing on investigating complaints of ethical violations by former KPK Director of Investigation Brigadier General Endar Priantoro. This effort was made because the report first entered.

"It's not possible at once. So it must be one by one. In the early stages, we will follow up on the complaint report regarding the dismissal of Mr. Endar," he said.

Saut Situmorang was pessimistic about the KPK Supervisory Board after reporting allegations of leaking investigation documents. He even stated that he could not expect much from the Supervisory Board.

"There is nothing he (Dewas KPK, ed) has given up, (stating, red) has no authority," Saut told reporters at the KPK Council office, Jalan HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Monday, April 10.

Saut, who reported Firli along with other former KPK leaders, such as Abraham Samad and Bambang Widjojanto, admitted that he had met the Chairman of the KPK Council, Tumpak Hatorangan. From that meeting, the KPK Council had already mentioned that there was no authority according to the rules in the KPK Law Number 19 of 2019.

"The trick is that we may hope but not much. So once again, as I often convey in the media, the KPK Council is part of the problem. Earlier, we were even angry about everything," he explained.

Previously, the alleged leak of this investigation document was widely circulated in public after the KPK searched the office of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources on March 27. Based on information circulating, the leaked file contained the names of the suspects and the alleged articles.

Furthermore, the former KPK leader together with the Civil Society Coalition reported the alleged leaking of documents to the KPK Council. It is suspected that Firli Bahuri played a role in the incident.

In addition, they also plan to report Firli to the police in the near future. This report will be made because the former Deputy for Enforcement of the KPK is considered to have committed a criminal act for leaking classified documents.
