The Minister Of Home Affairs Asked The Governor Of Central Kalimantan To Appoint The Deputy Regent Of Kapuas As Acting Regent In The Aftermath Of Ben Brahim As A KPK Suspect

The Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian asked the Governor of Central Kalimantan (Kalteng) Sugianto Sabran to appoint Deputy Regent of Kapuas Muhammad Nafiah Ibnor to be the Acting Regent of Kapuas.

"The Minister of Home Affairs ordered the governor of Central Kalimantan to immediately appoint the deputy regent of Kapuas as acting regent of Kapuas in accordance with the laws and regulations," said Central Kalimantan Regional Secretary (Sekda) Nuryakin in a written statement, Friday, April 7, which was confiscated by Antara.

Tito's order has been stated in the Minister of Home Affairs Letter Number 100.2.1.3/1880/OTDA dated March 31, 2023, which was signed by the daily executive (plh) of the Director General of Regional Autonomy of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The appointment of Muhammad Nafiah Ibnor as Acting Regent of Kapuas is related to the legal status of the inactive Regent of Kapuas Ben Brahim S. Bahat who was named a suspect in the alleged corruption case with his wife who is also a member of the Indonesian Parliament Ary Egahni Ben Bahat.

Based on the provisions of Article 65 paragraph (4) of Law Number 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Governments, it is stipulated that in the case that regional heads are serving a period of detention or are temporarily absent, the deputy regional heads carry out the duties and authorities of regional heads.

Nuryakin said that his party would immediately follow up on the Minister of Home Affairs' letter regarding the assignment of Nafiah Ibor as Acting Regent of Kapuas.

He also added that the condition of government wheels and community services in Kapuas Regency is currently running normally without problems.

"The provincial government will immediately follow up on the Minister of Home Affairs' letter in order to ensure the smooth running of government in Kapuas Regency," he added.

In addition to reporting the condition of government in Kapuas Regency after Ben Bahat was named a suspect and detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the meeting also discussed inflation control, stunting problems in children (stunting) to floods that hit the area.

Regarding inflation, Nuryakin said it was still volatile but under control, because there were several increases in the prices of basic commodities within reasonable limits ahead of Eid.

Commodities that contribute to inflation in the area include rice, air transportation, cayenne pepper, gasoline, filtered kretek cigarettes, garlic, tuna, sponge fish, and cooking oil.

Therefore, the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government is making various efforts, such as intensifying market operations, deploying cheap markets and balance markets, as well as the chili planting movement.

As for stunting, Nuryakin also conveyed various efforts made by the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government together with the district government and local city governments in reducing the prevalence rate of stunting in the child.

"I also convey my efforts in handling stunting that our focus on this is to involve all stakeholders. We have formed a Team for the Acceleration of Stunting Reduction (TPPS) to the village level," he said.
