Ombudsman Asks Regional Heads To Socialize Potential Congestion Points For Eid Al-Fitr 2023 Homecoming In Their Regions

The Indonesian Ombudsman asked regional heads in Indonesia whose areas are traversed by travelers to intensify information related to congestion points and other inconveniences such as damaged roads.

"Government officials, in this case the West Sumatra Provincial Government (West Sumatra) and various regional apparatus organizations, must increase information to the public regarding traffic jams," said Head of the Indonesian Ombudsman representing West Sumatra Yefri Heriani in Padang, West Sumatra, Thursday, April 6, confiscated by Antara.

In addition to streamlining information about congestion points, the Ombudsman also encourages the government to do the same regarding alternative routes that people can pass during the Eid Al-Fitr 2023 or Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijri season.

"Including information that reminds road users to obey the rules," said Yefriani.

Not only that, the West Sumatra Ombudsman also asked the government to improve the quality of human resources (HR) for personnel who will serve in the field during Eid al-Fitr 2023. Because, in the previous year, officers who were scolded by residents were still found because they did not know or understand in unraveling congestion.

"Communication capabilities are important for officers in the field, including firmness, and most importantly not to accept illegal levies," he said.

Reflecting on data in 2022, the number of travelers entering the province reaches two million people. This figure is expected to increase in the 2023 homecoming season considering the sloping condition of the COVID-19 pandemic and so on.

He reminded that by carrying out a safe and comfortable public service mission, the government has a responsibility to fulfill it, especially during the 2023 homecoming season.

The government itself predicts that the number of travelers for Lebaran 2023 is estimated to reach 123 million people or an increase compared to 2022, which amounts to 85 million people.

Not only reminding state officials, the West Sumatra Ombudsman also appealed to the public, including travelers who would enter the region, to obey and obey the rules set by the government.
