KEPRI - Bintan Police are investigating the practice of disposing of toxic and hazardous waste (B3) carelessly using truck transportation in the North Bintan District, Riau Islands (Kepri).
Head of the Public Relations Section (Kasi) of the Bintan Police, Iptu calmamsu Alson, said a driver with the initials YS and a tank lori were arrested after the practice was caught red-handed on Friday, March 31.
"There are two locations for disposal of B3 waste, namely behind the Melayu Dendang hotel and one of the company's lands in North Bintan District," said Iptu Alson at the Bintan Police Headquarters, Riau Islands, Wednesday, April 5, which was confiscated by Antara.
Alson stated that the B3 waste was dumped by forest and bush areas. Based on YS's confession, he has disposed of the B3 waste charge four times.
YS also admitted that he was only carrying out someone's orders, which in this case are still under investigation by the Bintan Police Criminal Investigation Unit.
Meanwhile, the B3 waste sample has been taken by the police and will be examined in the laboratory to determine whether it is really B3 waste or not.
"We have secured YS driver and evidence of the tank lori for further investigation," he said.
