2 Hours Heavy Rain, Several Road Points In Karawang Reported Flood

A number of highway points in the Karawang Regency area, West Java, were flooded following high rainfall in the area on Saturday afternoon. Among the roads that were flooded due to the rain that lasted for about two hours, including Jalan Surotokunto and Jalan Raya Klari. In addition, the flood also submerged Jalan Raya Kosambi as well as in urban areas such as roads around GOR Palanayudha and roads around the Singapore Stadium. The flood that submerged a number of points of the highway, motorcyclists had difficulty breaking through the flood. The condition was like what happened on Jalan Raya Klari, a number of motorbikes broke down while trying to break through the flood. Floods that submerged a number of highway points varied the water level, some were just feet up to the height of adults. "Yes, almost every heavy rain, always flooding on Jalan Raya Klari," said Ipul, one of the motorcyclists quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, March 25. One of the residents of Klari, Pendi, said that flooding inunding the Karawang-Cikampek arterial road of the Klari region often occurs if it rains heavily.

"This road is often flooded, but when it rains it stops, it slowly recedes," he said, adding that it was triggered by poor drainage along Jalan Raya Klari. Meanwhile, the heavy rain conditions that occurred on Saturday afternoon were also accompanied by lightning. This condition resulted in power outages for two to more than three hours in the Klari area and East Karawang District.
