The Chairman Of The Corruption Eradication Commission Reminded Many Cases Of Corruption Exposed In The Political Year

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri reminded that many corruption cases were revealed during the political year.

"The most cases of corruption were revealed by the KPK during the political years, 2015, 2017 and 2018," said Firli during the 2020 Beintegritas National Pilkada Webinar which was broadcast via the KPK Youtube, Tuesday.

Even in 2018, Firli continued, the KPK had arrested 30 regional heads who were caught in corruption cases.

"Even in 2018, the highest number of corruption cases was caught, I have to say, the highest corruption cases were caught because many could not have been caught. At least 30 times were arrested by regional heads," said Firli.

Regarding the implementation of the pilkada, he also revealed the problem of pilkada funding, namely the gap between the cost of the elections and the assets of the regional head candidate pairs. This means that the total assets of the regional head candidate pairs are not sufficient for the pilkada costs.

"From the results of our research that there is a gap between the cost of the pilkada and the ability of the assets of the candidates even from the LHKPN is minus. So, the total assets are only an average of Rp. 18 billion and even not up to Rp. 18 billion. So, it is far from the costs required during the election," said Firli.

Based on the KPK survey on the implementation of the 2015, 2017 and 2018 regional elections, the average total assets of one candidate pair is IDR 18,039,709,967 and there is even one pair of candidates who have assets minus IDR 15,172,000.

"So, this is an 'indepth interview' interview, there are those who talk about Rp. 5 billion to Rp. 10 billion, but there are also those who say that if they want the ideal to win in the regional elections, the regent / mayor has at least Rp. 65 billion. In fact, he only has Rp. 18 billion, which means minus want to win. "Nyalon" is already a minus, "he said.

In addition, he also revealed that from the research results there were 82.3 percent of regional head candidates financed by third parties or sponsors.

"Where did the money come from? The money was financed by a third party and our research results were 82.3 percent, the cost was assisted by a third party, 2017 82.6 percent was assisted by a third party, 2018 70.3 percent was assisted by a third party," said Firli.
