Adrian Vandenberg: Steve Vai Apologizes For His "Ngartical" Behavior At Whitesnake

JAKARTA - Adrian Vandenberg reached Steve Vai's confession calling himself "not understanding" during his duties at Whitesnake.

In an Steve Vai story that made headlines last week, Adrian Vandenberg revealed that his former six-string colleague apologized to him for his behavior during their tenure in the rock band made by David Coverdale.

Adrian revealed this while talking to Eonmusic about Vandenber's new album, Sin.

Vai joined Whitesnake in the era of Slip of the Tongue (1989), an album written by Adrian, and although the Dutchman did not appear on the album due to a hand injury. He just rejoined the band for the next tour cycle.

"Talking to Eonmusic about their music partnership," said Adrian.

"Steve and I immediately became good friends. I think it worked really well between Steve and me because I think it sounds very different," said Adrian.

Meanwhile, talking about their differences as guitarists, Adrian responded: "I'm a very melodic player that's always been my passion and Steve, especially in that period, was striking, because he felt he had to prove himself more. That's what he told me later."

Next revealed that Steve apologized for what was described last week as "not meaningful" behavior, Adrian said: "Steve then said, 'Bung, I have to say, you know, at that time, my ego was a bit bloating', and he apologized for that. He said, 'You know, I was just carried away by a period of time where everyone said, 'Oh! Steve Vai.'"

Admitting how hard it is not playing on the album Slip of the Tongue, Adrian is philosophical.

"No matter how frustrated I am that I can't play my own song due to this wrist injury, at the same time, I thought, 'Well, on the one hand, it's kind of cool that celebrity Steve plays in my songs'," he said.
