S70 Proton Officially Listed In Malaysia, New Round Of Sedan Models In Neighboring Countries

JAKARTA - Proton officially launched S70 from the production line at the Tanjong factory, Malim, Malaysia, starting November 1, 2023.

In a statement, Proton CEO Dr Li Chunrong said that this new model marked a new chapter for Proton as they returned to the sedan market.

"We have high hopes that this product will be popular with current and new Proton fans, as well as helping us return to the top of the market segment which was previously led by models such as Proton Wira, Waja, and Prevé," he said, quoted from The Malaysian Reserve website, Wednesday, November 1.

He further said the launch this time was an important step for Proton, in an effort to make Tanjong Malim and Automotive High Tech Valley (AHTV) the national automotive center.

As is known, the company has invested more than RM1.8 billion to improve facilities in Tanjung Malim, because this factory will assemble various other vehicle models.

"This is a good sign for the company's future because we want to develop our series of offers by including more New Energy Vehicles and ultimately electric vehicles," he added.

However, there are no details regarding this car yet, but it is estimated that it was built based on Geely's model, and comes with a 1.5 liter turbocharged engine with dual-clutch transmission.

For customers who are interested, they can spend 500 Malaysian ringgit or around Rp. 1.6 million as a sign of being a purchase.
