JAKARTA - The development of the global automotive industry is underway rapidly with many manufacturers presenting utility vehicles to meet consumer needs.

The increasing popularity of SUVs in the global market does not occur without reason. Consumer demand for this vehicle is increasing because of its ability to transport more passengers and goods.

However, this has resulted in concerns about the future of the sedan, which used to be a prima donna in various circles. However, Lexus, one of the leading automotive manufacturers, believes that the sedan remains an important part of their sales strategy.

Takashi Watanabe, Chief Engineer Lexus, expressed his commitment to continue presenting sedans in their line of products in the future. Although the sedan market has decreased, demand for sedans is still quite significant.

"We continue to monitor the market, and we are still very committed to the sedan segment," Watanabe said, quoted by Drive, Wednesday, September 20.

Watanabe emphasizes that the sedan market still has a strong market share in various countries. For example, the Lexus ES sedan accounts for half of their total sales on the Chinese market. However, the Chinese market has its own dynamics with rapid changes.

"We need to take more advanced steps and change our business strategy if we want to continue to develop in China," added Watanabe.

Watanabe stated that their focus is on planning products globally, including the development of exclusive products for the Chinese market.

"We have to focus more on the Chinese market to be able to keep up with developments and meet the needs of our customers," Watanabe said.

It is known, this premium brand will continue to expand their sedan lineup after introducing a concept version of the next generation Lexus ES based on the latest Toyota Camry. In addition, other sedans such as Lexus IS will also be the latest electric model, following RZ 450e and UX 300e.
