Not Only Offering Luxury, Toyota Century Will Get A Gazoo Racing Touch

Toyota has introduced Century's latest SUV into the ranks of its luxury vehicles in Japan. The presence of this latest Century continues the legacy of the premium model introduced 56 years ago.

At the launch event held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, Toyota introduced two interesting variants for Century, the first being Century SUV Convertible and Century GRMN.

However, Toyota did not reveal further details regarding the Convertible version of the Century SUV model at the launch event.

"The possibility of this customization is open and unbounded for discussion," Toyota Chief Branding Officer, Simon Humphries, said at the launch of the Century SUV through Toyota Japan's official YouTube account, Wednesday, September 6.

Toyota also continued that they gave customers freedom regarding what options to be presented to the Century model, of course, with the help of expert craftsmen.

Then the second version is Century GRMN which turned out to be different from the previous variant where the development of the Century would involve Toyota's high-performance division, namely Gazoo Racing (GR).

Which means, Century trim GRMN will be intended for independent or unsopirized vehicle users. Thus, vehicle owners can feel the sensation of the latest performance from Century with a touch of the famous GR.

"If you want to drive this vehicle yourself on weekends, GRMN will definitely not disappoint," Simon said.

Toyota was brave enough to present a trim GRMN in Century. This is because the designation deserves to be used in models that have higher performance, above GR, GR Sport, and GR Parts.

Of course it will be very interesting if Century gets a touch of sporty and aggressiveness from GR with new bodykit embeddings, splitters, sideskirts, and back diffusers, all of which are made of carbon fiber material.

Thus, Toyota Century for the first time is not only in an elegant form, but has other GR-like appearances and performances that Toyota has through improved modifications.

It is known, for more than four decades Century offers the luxury, comfort, and calm of a car either when driven by a driver or when driven by himself. No wonder Century has always been the driver's favorite car in Japan, considered capable of realizing the spirit of automotenashi, or unmatched hospitality.

Century looks very magnificent and elegant with a large gate panel flowing through the side body. A large size comes from a length of 5,205 mm, a width of 1,990 mm, a height of 1,805 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. The Century can accommodate four people.

Toyota will include the Century model in its electrification lineup. This is because this luxury car is equipped with a Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) machine 3.5 liters V6 system, which produces powerful performance while maintaining a silent driver that is suitable for Century.

The new PHEV system is also designed to serve as a BEV for daily use and as a HEV for long-distance travel. The machine is in collaboration with the e-CVT tang transmission developed by Toyota with an all-wheel drive system or E-Four Advanced.

Designated as a vehicle for conglomerates and royal families, the car produced at the Tahara Plant is priced at 25 million yen or equivalent to IDR 2.6 billion. Century will only be available on several special dealers networks in Japan and sales will be limited to only 30 units per month.
