Latest Mitsubishi Triton Developments: Rear Brake Update For More Optimal Performance

JAKARTA - All-New Mitsubishi Triton was just introduced at the end of last July, continuing the tradition of one of these famous pickups. This is the latest generation introduced by Mitsubishi after more than a decade.

Although newly launched, this Japanese manufacturer is already thinking about ways to develop the Triton further. One aspect that will be updated is the rear braking system, which currently still uses drum brakes.

According to Yoshiki Masuda, Head of Product Specialist Mitsubishi Motors, changes to this braking system were made to ensure suitability with other features such as ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), automatic parking, and to improve overall performance factors.

"In the near future, there may be an increase or change in this model, especially in terms of braking the disk," said Masuda, quoted from CarExpert, Tuesday, August 31.

Although the latest generation of Triton (or also known as L200) maintains the use of drum brakes at the back, Mitsubishi proposes switching to disc brakes. This may affect improvements in terms of braking power and also compatibility with advanced systems that are increasingly commonly used.

Currently, many competing truck pickups, such as Toyota Hilux, Nissan Navara, Isuzu D-Max, and Mazda BT-50, are also still using drum brakes. On the other hand, some competitors, such as GWM Ute and LDV T60, have switched to disc brakes.

All-New Triton comes with a different design from the previous generation, with inspiration from the XRT concept. In addition to design changes, this pickup also adopts a ladder frame chassis that has been increased stiffness by up to 60 percent.

Available in a variety of models, including dual cabins, club cabins, and single cabins, Mitsubishi guarantees that these vehicles have a high level of resilience with the latest double wishbone front suspensions and rear suspensions that improve driving performance.

All-New Triton also offers a strong machine choice. The 2.4 liter turbo diesel engine produces a power of 148 hp and 330 Nm torque, 181 hp and 430 Nm torque, as well as a more powerful version with 201 hp and 470 Nm torque power.

Mitsubishi also provides a variety of color choices for All-New Triton, including Yamawi Orange Metallic, Blade Silver Metallic, White Diamond, Solid White, Jet Black Mica, and Graphite Gray Metallic.
