JAKARTA - For half a century working in the automotive industry, Volkswagen Passat has been one of VW's mainstays in the medium-sized vehicle category for generations.

Recently, VW introduced the latest generation of this model, namely All-New Passat. The vehicle, known for its wagon design, reached its ninth generation, after Golf.

This car comes back with the original form, namely the wagon, after the previous sedan version was stopped. Despite returning to its original form, this latest Passat still appears modern and in accordance with the times.

Reporting from Motor1, Wednesday, August 30, this wagon has a fairly wide dimension, with a length of 4,917 mm, a width of 1,852 mm, a height of 1,506 mm, and a wide wheelbase, reaching 2,841 mm.

The car features a revolutionary design with the front resembling an ID.7 model, with the hallmarks of VW lights and bottom grips reminiscent of the Golf model, as well as the use of LED and Dynamic LED matrix lights on the back. All-New Passat also comes with a 19-inch rim that gives a luxurious impression.

VW maintains the same design language as previous generations for the interior of Passat. The interior is equipped with a 12.9-inch touchscreen as a standard, even a 15-inch screen option for infotainment systems is available.

The cluster instrument also comes in the form of a digital measuring 10.25 inches as a standard, replacing the use of analog instruments in the previous Passat generation.

With its wide dimension, All-New Passat offers the maximum space, providing users with enough place to store goods with a capacity of 690 liters. If the back row is bent, the space capacity can be expanded to 1,920 liters.

In terms of engines, All-New Passat has several options, including diesel, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid. For diesel variants, the All-New Passat is equipped with a 2.0 TDI engine that produces 121 dk and 148 dk of power for front wheels drivers, as well as 190 dk with all-wheel drive systems. This variant is accompanied by a transmission of seven dual-clutch accelerations.

Turning to the mild-hybrid variant, this wagon comes with a 1.5 liter eTSI engine that produces 148 dk of power. There is also a gasoline version with a 2.0 TSI engine that produces 201 dk of power for front wheels drivers, and an option of 261 dk with all 4Motion wheels driving.

Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model known by VW as "eHhybrid," the All-New Passat is equipped with a 1.5 liter TSI engine combined with a 19.7 kWh battery pack.

With this engine, Passat has a basis of 201 dk and a torque of 350 Nm. However, the power can be increased to 268 dk and a torque of 400 Nm. Passat can travel up to 100 km with pure electric power, and with gasoline, the maximum distance reaches 1,000 km with a full tank.

All-New Passat will make its debut at IAA Munich in early September this year and is scheduled to be available for sale in early 2024.
