Land Rover's Discovery Sport 2023 Wins Five Star Safety Rate By ANCAP

JAKARTA - The Land Rover flagship SUV model, Discovery Sport 2023, has just received a five-star assessment of the Australation New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) as the highest safety-level car.

The latest generation from Discovery Sport has won five-star ratings, after the previous generation in 2014 also achieved similar results in collision testing.

After experiencing an update in 2020 and further refresh this year, as well as plans to become an electric car by 2025, the vehicle has been tested again sustainably by ANCAP and its European counterpart, Euro NCAP.

According to the Drive page, June 20, the latest assessment for the Land Rover Discovery Sport is valid until the end of 2028 or six years after the last test was carried out.

Although the announcement was only made in Australia in 2023, previously this car had undergone a hit-and-hit test in Europe some time ago with the 2020-2022 ANCAP and Euro NCAP testing protocols.

This assessment also applies to both Land Rover Discovery Sport variants sold in Australia. The SUV received a rating of 85 percent for Adult Passenger Protection, 88 percent for Child Passenger Protection, 71 percent for Vulnerable Road User Protection (pedestrians and cyclists), and 83 percent for Safety Assist technology.

The Rating for the Protection of Adult Passengers Discovery Sport was achieved after this SUV scored a full score in the test for the protection of frontal, side-side, support pole and whiplash protection from ANCAP.

For the Child Passenger Protection category, Land Rover achieved a perfect score in the hit-on and side tests. 83 percent of the Safety Assist technology on Discovery Sport was provided after the SUV lost one or less points in seat belt reminders, autonomous emergency braking technology (AEB), speed assistance, and a lane-keeping system.

According to ANCAP, Discovery Sport produced various scores in the Vulnerable Road User Protection test, ranging from zero (a collision at the top of the leg) to a full score (a collision at the bottom of the leg).

AEB's technological ability to detect pedestrians and cyclists as they move forward has slightly lost points.

Land Rover Discovery Sport 2023 is valued at US$80,970 or around Rp1.21 billion for the Dynamic SE variant and US$85,540 or around Rp1.28 billion for the Dynamic HSE variant.
