Taken From A True Story, Baim Wong Creates A Lembayung Film To Air In 2024

JAKARTA - MNC Pictures' horror thriller film together with Tiger Wong Entertainment announced that it is ready to be produced and will start shooting starting next week. The Lembayung film, directed by Baim Wong & Ruben Adrian, became Baim's directorial debut, while Ruben was the second time directing a feature film.

The idea of a flm Lembayung story was raised from a viral thread Jin Poli Gigi a true story on X (Twitter) written by Pica, who at that time was still a nursing student in his account @saturnrushx. The incident he wrote on the thread was experienced by his friend Arum, when they were street vendors at the Poly Gigi unit, a hospital in a small town of Central Java.

The thread went viral in 2022. Until Pica finally stopped writing because he admitted that he was traumatized by the scary experiences he often experienced. The screenplay of the Lembayung film itself is written by Gemati Rahayu.

The artists who will play in this film include Arya Saloka, Taskya Namya, Yasamin Jasem, Tio Pakusadewo, Asri Welas, Paula Verhoeven, Daffa Wardhana, Erick Astrada, Ence Bagus and Mario Maulana.

In the second film produced by Tiger Wong Entertainment, now Baim Wong also dares to go directly as a director. For him. this is a challenge that also provides important lessons as a creator.

"Cooperating with Ruben Adrian to direct the film Lembayung is certainly a new thing for me. It will be very challenging for sure, but we have done all the preparations carefully," Baim Wong said in a media statement received by VOI, Wednesday, November 8.

"I am also happy that the cast has so far collaborated well during the preparation process until we read and finally we will shoot. Hopefully everything will be launched and finally the Lembayung film can be enjoyed by the audience," continued Baim.

Playing as Doctor Teto, Arya Saloka tried to explain that previously he had traced the viral thread of Jin Poli Gigi to understand more about the true story experienced by Pica and Arum at the clinic where they are street vendors.

"When reading the thread alone, the terror has been felt for those who read it. You can imagine, only from the element of smell has given a scary shadow until finally the story continues. With a script written by Gemati Rahayu, there must be creative adjustments to the terror that exists in the true story of Pica and her best friend. In this film, there will be surprising things that are more scary and terrorizing," said actor doctor Teto Arya Saloka.

Baim Wong added that this film will start filming next week and will be released in 2024 between June or August.

"The target is possible but for sure in 2024 if it is in the second semester of the second quarter. June 2, August," said Baim Wong.
