JAKARTA - Laura Basuki and Ario Bayu will depart for the 2023 Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) as delegates from Indonesia. The BIFF event itself was held from October 4 to 13, in Busan, South Korea.

Present to bring Indonesian cinema, both Laura and Ario have hopes for the selection of Indonesian films in international events. Ario said he wanted to show the international community that in Indonesia there are so many talented filmmakers.

"I personally want to show that Indonesia has a fairly capable film maker or talent that we can represent internationally. So that's the hope," said Ario Bayu in Sudirman, South Jakarta, Monday, October 2.

"And we are quite proud to be able to show off the work of the nation's children. So hopefully they will accept it in the same way," he continued.

Slightly different from Ario, Laura Basuki wants this to be an entry point in networking for outsiders to see Indonesian films.

Therefore, he hopes that Indonesia's participation in BIFF can be made easier in showing off Indonesian filmmakers in the international arena.

"This Festival event can be a door networking, showing what Indonesian films are like because maybe so far access is quite minimal for people outside to access Indonesian films," Laura continued.

"And this is one way to make Indonesian films, show what the results of Indonesian films will be so that in the future it may be easier to pave the way to explain other Indonesian fioms in the international arena," said Laura.
