The Exorcist Film Director William Friedkin Dies

Way explained, before he died, Friedkin remained productive and worked but his health condition was decreasing.

William Friedkin is one of the trigger names for the presence of filmmakers in the 70s together with Peter Bogdanovich, Francis Ford Coppola and Hal Ashby. He is known through a number of his works in the horror and thriller genre.

The French Connection became the film that made Friedkin's name in the awards line. The film won five of the eight nominations at the 44th Academy Awards including Best Director.

The French Connection film is also included in the list of the best American Film Institute versions and is included in the National Film Registry list as a cultural and historical film.

After The French Connection, he also made history through the film The Exorcist which was released in 1973. The film made $500 million and became a blockbuster in the United States film industry.

This horror film also led William Friedkin to enter the Best Director nomination at the Academy Awards.

However, his film career is not always smooth because some of the next films did not encounter a success point as big as the previous two films. He also worked on series such as Tales From the Crypt, The Twilight Zone, Space Quest and C.A.T. Squad

Friedkin has also worked a lot on documentaries and film projects until the end of his life. His last film, Thebulge Mutiny Court-Martial was confirmed to air at the Venice Film Festival this year.

William Friedkin left his fourth wife, Lansing and two children at the age of 78.
