Landslides In Trenggalek Isolir 9 Residents' Houses, BPBD Restores Access

JAKARTA - BPBD Trenggalek managed to restore road access that was blocked by landslides in RT 26/RW 06 Dusun Kajar, Dukuh Village, Watulimo District.

A five-meter-high landslide with a width of 50 meters had isolated nine houses in the area.

"Cleaning up the landslide material was completed last night, and road access can now be passed," said Head of BPBD Trenggalek, villai Admono in a statement Monday, December 16, confiscated by Antara.

The landslide disaster occurred on Thursday, December 12, at 15.30 WIB after heavy rains flushed the area.

The cliff landslide closed the main road which is the only access for 11 families in the area.

Although there were no casualties, bad weather conditions had hampered the cleaning process, which took several days.

BPBD together with joint officers used a heavy equipment to clean up the landslide material, which was completed on Saturday, December 14 evening.

Vibani reminded the public to remain alert to the potential for further landslides, especially when heavy rains flush vulnerable areas.

"We urge residents to always be careful and increase vigilance in the rainy season," he said.
