Failed To Qualify For The Round Of 16 Of The 2023 U-17 World Cup, The U-17 National Team Returned To Jakarta To Be Disbanded

JAKARTA - The journey of the Indonesia U-17 national team at the 2023 U-17 World Cup was stopped after failing to secure a ticket to the round of 16. The step that was stopped in this group phase made the Garuda Muda squad have to return to Jakarta.

During the group phase, the U-17 national team settled in Surabaya related to the Group A match agenda which was held at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium. After stopping in the group phase, Bima Sakti's team left for Jakarta on Sunday, November 19 to be disbanded by PSSI.

The decision to dissolve the U-17 national team squad is because there is no longer an agenda for the age group throughout 2023. There will be another international agenda in 2024 from the 15 year old category.

Some of the youth agendas waiting for the Indonesian Squad in 2024 are the 2024 AFF U-16 Cup and 2025 U-17 Asian Cup Qualification. If you look at the schedule, it means that the age group has also changed and will be included in the U-20 category.

"Arriving in Jakarta, the Indonesian U-17 team is waiting for further news before being sent back to their respective clubs or cities," PSSI wrote in its official release on Sunday, November 19.

Even though he had to return to Jakarta to be disbanded, Bima Sakti as the coach of the Indonesian U-17 national team asked the m players to continue to train hard. This was conveyed because he was sure that his team's future would be bright and still had to compete in the U-20 category.

The Indonesian U-17 team children have a bright future and their potential is extraordinary. God willing, these players will be prepared for the Indonesian U-20 team next year," he said.

"Together with coach Indra Sjafri who in fact will participate in various international tournaments. I hope they continue to work hard, be disciplined, improve capabilities and maintain attitude," continued the Milky Way.

The U-17 Indonesian national team was eliminated in the preliminary round of the 2023 U-17 World Cup after only being able to end Group A in third place with two points from three matches.

Bima Sakti's squad collected the figure after a 1-1 draw against Ecuador's national team in the inaugural match, drawing 1-1 again in the second match against Panama and losing 1-3 to the Morocco U-17 national team in the last match.

This point note made the national team fail to qualify for the last 16 of the 2023 U-17 World Cup. Because the requirement to lock the ticket is for a team to become the group winners, group runners-up, and the best four third positions.
