Attorney General Orders Jampidsus To Postpone Investigation Of Election Contestants Stumbled In Corruption Cases
Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin issued the Attorney General's instructions Number 6 of 2023 concerning optimizing the role of the Indonesian Prosecutor's Office in supporting and succeeding the implementation of the 2024 Simultaneous Elections.
The Attorney General ordered the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) to postpone the examination of the 2024 General Election participants who stumbled on allegations of corruption until the election was completed.
The Attorney General revealed that the issuance of the instruction is a commitment to implementing the memorandum of the attorney general number 127 concerning efforts to minimize the impact of law enforcement on the implementation of the 2024 General Election and Memorandum of Attorney General Number 128 concerning optimizing the role of intelligence in the implementation of the 2024 General Election.
"Strictly in the instruction, we instruct the prosecutors to take steps in accordance with their respective duties and authorities in supporting and succeeding the organizers of the 2024 Simultaneous Elections," said Burhanuddin in the DPR Commission III meeting room, Thursday, November 16.

One of these steps is by mapping potential threats of disturbances, obstacles, and challenges that have the potential to cause election crimes as a form of early prevention detection and finding mitigation steps for completion.
"In law enforcement related to the handling of election crimes, we also order the ranks of Jampidsus and intelligence services to postpone the investigation process, both in every investigation and investigation of the handling of reports of alleged corruption involving participants in the election contestation," said the Attorney General.
