Trade Unions Will Visit The Ministry Of State Secretary's Office Asking For The Sultan Hotel Blockade To Be Opened
JAKARTA - The Confederation of All Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPSI) will visit the office of the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg) to request that the concrete barricades built at the entrance to the Sultan Hotel be dismantled.
Chairman of KSPSI Jumhur Hidayat said a massive action would be held in the near future in front of the Kemensetneg office. This action was carried out because KSPI was not satisfied with the explanation of the Bung Karno Center for Management (PPK GBK) related to the installation of concrete barricades in the Accese in and out of the Sultan Hotel.
As is known, KSPSI this afternoon visited the PPK GBK office to conduct an audience regarding the problems that occurred at the Sultan Hotel. Audience was carried out because KSPSI felt that this land dispute was detrimental to hotel employees.
The meeting discussed for the opening of the barricades. (It turned out) they did not have the power, they were told by the State Secretariat. Within 3-4 days from now we will be surrounded by the State Secretariat, we will write to the Regional Police, thousands of people will come there," he said when met at the GBK PPK Office, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, November 13.
Jumhur said KSPSI strongly protested the closure, permanent barricades of hotel and apartment entrances that endangered the safety of workers' lives as well as resulted in a 10 percent reduction in occupancy.
"Now that it's blocked, there are no guests there, and they fall into poverty, the income runs out. We ask for the blockade to be lifted so that business activities run," he said.
Previously, PT Indobuildco's attorney, Hamdan Zoelva, regretted the unilateral action of PPK GBK when carrying out the execution. He said, this kind of action felt the first time this had happened by an institution formed by the government and should pay respects to legal principles.
" Unilateral and arbitrary actions as displayed by PPK GBK are the first time this has happened in Indonesia. Execution of dispute objects is mandatory on a court order," he said.

Thus, PPK GBK was asked to refrain until the court's decision was knocked. Given that many workers at the hotel depend on their fate to support their families.
"There are thousands of people who rely on their lives from working at the Sultan Hotel & Residence, both as employees and vendors including taxi drivers," said Hamdan.
"Where is the sense of humanity PPK GBK if unilaterally forcing employees to stop working? Will PPK GBK support them? Let the legal process take place and the panel of judges decide as fairly as possible," he concluded.
