Palu Police Destroys 1 Kg Of Methamphetamine Worth More Than IDR 2.5 Billion
PALU - Palu City Police (Polresta), Central Sulawesi destroyed evidence of methamphetamine weighing 1,673.27 grams confiscated from two suspects with a value of Rp. 2 billion to Rp. 2.5 billion.
"The Palu Police have arrested and uncovered class one narcotics, a type of crystal methamphetamine weighing 1,673.27 grams", said Palu Police Chief, Police Commissioner Barliansyah, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday 9 November.
He explained that the evidence of methamphetamine-type drugs was the result of two different cases of disclosure of narcotics crimes in the jurisdiction of the Palu Police.
The evidence of crystal methamphetamine that was destroyed came from two suspects who were arrested separately and found methamphetamine in different locations.
"If converted into rupiah, the drug evidence is worth IDR 2 billion to IDR 2.5 billion", he said.
The disclosure of the first case, he said, occurred on October 1 2023 on Jalan Sisingamangaraja, Talise Village, Mantikulore District, Palu City with evidence of 14 plastic packages of methamphetamine clips and a total weight of 710 grams which would be sent to Luwuk, Banggai Regency.
Furthermore, the second disclosure was that on October 9 2023, the suspect was arrested on Jalan Hos Cokroaminoto, Baru Village, West Palu District with evidence in the form of crystal methamphetamine in one packet of Chinese tea weighing 1,022 grams.
"This disclosure is a concrete manifestation of the Palu Police's efforts to prevent and eradicate narcotics crimes in the Palu Police's jurisdiction", he said.
Before being destroyed, the narcotics evidence was first opened from the seal and partially taken and then tested using a Test Kit and obtained positive results containing Methamphetamine.
After that, the evidence of narcotics is destroyed by dissolving it in a pan filled with hot water which is then mixed with detergent to boil.

Barliansyah said that the destruction of crystal methamphetamine was a form of commitment to preventing and eradicating drugs in addition to uncovering cases that were continuing to be carried out by personnel, especially from the Narcotics Research Unit.
He said that he would continue to eradicate and fight against drugs of all kinds, and the Police Chief hoped that the community would play a role in eradicating these illicit goods.
