Minister Of Agriculture Amran Asks For Additional Budget Of IDR 5.83 Trillion, For What?

JAKARTA - Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman asked for the blessing of Commission IV of the DPR for an additional budget for 2023 of IDR 5.83 trillion. This budget application has also been submitted to the Ministry of Finance.

"The Ministry of Agriculture is also proposing an additional budget for the 2023 fiscal year of IDR 5.83 trillion," he said in a meeting with Commission IV of the DPR, at the DPR Building, Perlemen Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, November 8.

Amran said this additional budget would be used to make various efforts to boost domestic production and corn.

"For the acceleration of planting, increasing rice and corn production through the provision of seeds, alsintan (farm equipment and machinery), providing pesticides, optimizing swampland, and incentives for officers in the field," he said.

Amran admitted that the Ministry of Agriculture has also conducted consultations with the Directorate General of Budget at the Ministry of Finance. Based on the results of the consultation, the proposed additional budget can be disbursed as this year.

"From the results of consultations with DJA, it is possible that only part of the proposal can be made at the end of this year," he said.

Meanwhile, continued Amran, the rest can be proposed again in the upcoming 2024 fiscal year.

"So to maintain this sustainability in early 2024, it is recommended to prioritize the use of the regular budget of the Ministry of Agriculture in 2024 and then the 2024 regular budget shortage can be proposed again in the 2024 fiscal year," he said.

Therefore, Amran also asked for the blessing of Commission IV of the DPR as a partner of the Ministry of Agriculture to approve this additional budget proposal.

"For this reason, we ask for support from the leadership of the members of Commission IV of the DPR," he said.
