JAKARTA - Venucia, a joint venture between Dongfeng and Nissan, has released a hydrogen-powered car variant that is a derivative of the previous V-Online model that uses internal combustion engines and is included in the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment.
This environmentally friendly car has not been officially sold and will first be used as a commercial demonstration of hydrogen vehicles in one of the main districts in Guangzhou. However, the possibility is not closed to gradual sales to individuals.
Reporting from the Carnewschina page, Monday, November 6, this hydrogen car is equipped with a 60 kW fuel cell and uses an LFP battery produced by BYD.
Venucia is not the only hydrogen vehicle manufacturer from Dongfeng. In 2020, the company also released Qingzhou E-H2, which is a variant of the Aolus AX7 model. Just like V-Online, Qingzhou is also intended for commercial use and is part of a commercial demonstration of hydrogen vehicles.
Apart from Dongfeng, several other Chinese automakers have also launched hydrogen-powered vehicles. For example, GAC Aion released a version of Aion LX's fuel cell, while SAIC Maxus offers MPV Euniq 7 with a fuel cell powertrain.
