MKMK Hopes That The Constitutional Court Judge Is Independent
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK) Jimly Asshiddiqie hopes that nine judges of the Constitutional Court can be independent in deciding every case must have different opinions.
"Our hope is that, especially as the founder's chairman, we advise that the nine must have their own independence," said Jimly at building II of the Constitutional Court, Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 1.
Jimly invited nine Constitutional Court judges to argue strongly, then unite in deciding cases.
"With each other's independence, please argue, please have a hard opinion. However, once the decision has been made, yes, yes, we must respect each other. Do not let the differences of opinion come out," said Jimly.
Nine judges of the Constitutional Court, he said, needed collegial and cohesive because it reflected nine ways of thinking for the Indonesian plural society.
He admitted that there was a problem if one of the Constitutional Court judges discussed internal debates between the Constitutional Court judges and outsiders.
"This must be a collegial, nine-year collective, and each one is a pillar of justice, the pillar of constitutional truth," he said.
However, Jimly asked the public not to guess the results of the MKMK examination related to reporting on violations of the code of ethics of the nine judges of the Constitutional Court.
