Ahead Of The 2024 General Election, Aismoli: Candidates Will Bring Electric Motorcycles In Political Campaigns
JAKARTA - Chairman (Ketum) of the Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Industry Association (Aismoli) Budi Setiyadi said many legislative candidates (caleg) would promote electric motors in their political campaign ahead of the 2024 general election (Pemilu).
"In fact, maybe they (scaleg) are still interested in electric motorbikes being brought to electoral districts (dapil) during the campaign. Yes, it can be a gimmick, maybe," Budi said when met after the 2023 EV Expo Inabuyer event at the Kemenkop UKM Building, Jakarta, Friday, October 27.
Budi hopes that with the electric motorcycle campaign, it will attract people to switch to these vehicles.
The reason, said Budi, is that there are still many people who do not know information regarding the existence of electric motor subsidies provided by the government, which is IDR 7 million.
"Hopefully, during this election, electric motorcycles will indeed be raised (as an issue of political campaigns). So, if possible they (the public) know a lot, yes, we from the industry are ready for that," he said.
According to Budi, accelerating the use of electric vehicles will help the government to reduce air pollution, to reduce the budget for fuel oil subsidies (BBM).
"Accelerating the use of electric motors is carried out so that fuel subsidies can be reduced, as well as reducing air pollution which is a global issue," he concluded.
