Proven Corruption, Former Treasurer Of SBT Satpol PP Sentenced To 6 Years In Prison
The Ambon Corruption Eradication Committee sentenced Abdul Gawi Wayabula as a former treasurer of the East Seram Regency Satpol PP, Maluku, in the corruption case of paying honorarium for members of the Satpol PP in 2020.
"Declaring that the defendant is legally and convincingly proven guilty of violating Article 3 Juncto Article 18 of Law Number 20 of 2021 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Corruption Juncto Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code)," said Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Committee Lutfi Alzagladi accompanied by two member judges in Ambon as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 24.
The defendant was also sentenced to pay a fine of Rp. 300 million, subsidiary to three months in prison and compensation of Rp. 925 million, subsidiary to 1.5 years in prison.
The Panel of Judges stated that the total state financial losses in this case amounted to Rp952 million so that it was borne by a joint talent between the defendant Abdul Gawi and witness Abdullah Rumain (in separate BAP) of more than Rp400 million each.
As for the aggravating things, the defendant was sentenced to imprisonment, fines, and to pay compensation for not supporting the government's program in eradicating KKN and his actions had enriched himself or other people which resulted in state financial losses of Rp952 million.

Meanwhile, the mitigating thing is that the defendant is polite, admits, and regrets his actions, and the defendant has never been convicted and has family responsibilities.
The judge's decision was lighter than the demands of the East Seram Prosecutor's Office, Rido Sampe, who previously demanded that the defendant Abdul Gawi be imprisoned for eight years.
Regarding the decision of the Ambon Corruption Court, the Public Prosecutor expressed his thoughts so that he was given the opportunity for seven days to state his position.
The defendant Abdul Gawi as Treasurer of the Expenditure of the SBT Regency Satpol PP together with witness Abdullah Rumain (former Kasatpol PP) in January-December 2020 using the honorarium budget for Satpol PP members not in accordance with the Regional Work Unit Budget Implementation Document.
