Supporting Eastern Free Indonesia, The Boss Of PT Timah Industri Pamer Has Substitute Materials
JAKARTA - PT Timah Industri produces non-leading raw materials for the Poly vinyl chloride (PVC) pipeline industry in the form of a tin stabilizer.
President Director of PT Timah Industri Ria Pawan said this was in line with the lead-free Indonesia campaign being carried out by the government.
It is known, the impact of lead exposure to humans causes more than 8 million Indonesian children to have lead levels in the blood above 5 micrograms per deciliter (dL), this exposure can have a negative impact on the health of children, for the community and can even have a fatal impact on the human body.
"We from the pipeline industry are upstream because it includes additional materials for making PVC pipes. As a substitute for the lead stabilizer, there is a stabilizer and mix metal stabilizer," he said in a statement received by VOI, Monday, October 23.
He ensured that PT Timah Industri as a producer of non-leading raw materials was also ready to supply non-leading counter stabilizers for the industry, especially the PVC pipeline.
"Our stabilizer Tin has been used by one of PT Avian's lead-free drinking water pipes in Surabaya. If lead-based pipe manufacturers want to replace it to a tin stabilizer, we are ready for supply," explained Ria.
The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) also advised the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) to be able to use non-leading raw materials in industries that have human contact.
"I think at the Ministry of Industry we are also starting to develop how to eliminate or minimize addictive substances such as lead in products, which are mainly very vulnerable to interacting with daily life by the community," said Assistant Deputy (Asdep) for Waste Management and Waste Management of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs, Rofi Alhanif.
The Ministry of Industry also encourages collaboration between industry and producers of raw materials, so that the stabilizer tin produced by PT Timah Industri can be maximally absorbed domestically.
"We encourage business matching, where the PVC industry as a Tin stabilizer user can communicate with PT Timah Industri as a producer of the stabilizer tin itself. Both are mutual advantages, so PT Timah Industri does not need to export and domestic needs are met without the need to import the stabilizer tin itself," said Chairman of the Metal Industry Working Group of the Ministry of Industry Ginanjar Mardhikatama.

On the other hand, the National Standardization Agency (BSN) is open on the proposal to eliminate or replace lead in the industrial production process which has a dangerous impact on the wider community.
"We will be very open if there are proposals related to the addition of heavy metal parameters, in this case it is lead, of course we also understand that this standard requires collaboration for technical level discussions," said Director of Standard Development Agro, Kimia, Health and Halal BSN Heru Suseno
